Our bits don't tear at your wood when drilling, these bits shear or cut the wood producing excellent results.

If you are an experienced woodworker, then you already know the value of a quality, ideally sized diameter forstner bit set like this one. If you've never used a forstner bit, this is the perfect set to get you started. As a matter of fact, its super easy if you have the right drill bit to do so. But it is also not good for the job they recomend it for.Īs far as recomening it to a friend, No for egg scope, yes for just boreing.Drilling flat bottom smooth holes doesn't have to be challenging.

I know its not that big a deal, but wouldn't it just be a whole lot easier to make the shank about 1/2" longer? Do they not test the items they recomend on what they recomend them for? To bore the hole all the way through, you need to only put about half the shank of the bit in your drill chuck. If it were, high end tools would be a waste of time, now wouldn't they?

Anyone else see the problem? And no, i am not going to just turn it over and bore from both sides. The blank is 2 3/8", the bit, seated in the chuck is 2". My problem with this bit is it is what Woodcraft recomends to bore the hole with for the egg scope kit. It bores well, it clears the wood shavings well, it does everything a forstner bit should do.
